Why we do this · Veloċi by Adam's Media · New Zealand

We're on your side for the experiments.

Hardly anyone lands the right business on the first go. There are usually a few completely different ideas before one clicks, and business has a name for that: the pivot. It isn't failure; it's how most great companies found their model. So everything here is built to make the next pivot easy: a finished site from $179 once, most of it back if you step away early, and the next idea live in one sitting.

What we believe

Three things we know about starting out.

The pivot

Most people pivot a few times before one clicks

New offer, new customers, new prices. Startups call it pivoting, and it's strategy, not failure: every round teaches something the last one couldn't, about the market, the money and yourself. Music lessons this spring, dance classes by summer, painting services next year: that's pivoting, and we're built for exactly that person.

A hundred hats

Nobody learns a hundred hats at once

Starting out, you're the marketer, the bookkeeper, the salesperson, the builder and the customer-service desk, all in the same week. However many hats you can learn at a time is the right number. We're here for the rest, for as long as it takes.

The kernel

Every business starts as a kernel

Like a farm, not every kernel becomes the harvest, and that's not a verdict on the farmer. Keep planting, cheaply, and one of them will. We want to nurture yours from the first day and still be there all the way: the planting, not just the harvest.

What this means

We're not hoping you fail. We're planning for your next pivot.

  • A changed mind or an unfinished site isn't a verdict on you; it's one round of learning, priced as low as we can manage.
  • The refund scale hands most of it back when you step away early, in good faith. The next attempt starts with money in your pocket.
  • That's not a loophole in the product. That is the product.

Famous pivots

The biggest names pivoted their way there.

Pivoting isn't a detour from the path. For some of the best-known companies of the last twenty years, it was the path: they changed the plan, kept the lesson, and kept going.

SlackBegan asGlitch, an online game. The game flopped.Pivoted toThe chat tool the team had built for themselves. Salesforce later paid US$27.7 billion for it.
InstagramBegan asBurbn, a cluttered check-in app almost nobody used.Pivoted toJust the photos, the one part people loved. Facebook paid US$1 billion eighteen months after launch.
YouTubeBegan asA video dating site. Nobody posted dates.Pivoted toUpload anything at all. Google paid US$1.65 billion inside two years.

Different products, same move: keep what you learned, change what you sell. Your next pivot is in good company.

Priced to retry

A lunch out, not a lease.

Most of the industry treats a website as a once-off sale: spend thousands, and if the idea doesn't land you walk away burnt, never wanting to try again. We're built the other way: the cost stays low, so the pivot is never the risky part.

$179 oncea finished site for your trade, paid once, the files yours
90% backin the first 72 hours if it wasn't the one, sliding in good faith from there
One sittingfrom picking your trade to a finished first draft, on your phone

The whole scale, worked examples and your market's law are at the refund policy, in plain English. And we're working out how to trade one site in for the next on the same sliding idea: an exchange, not refund-and-start-again.

Being transparent

The part most companies won't say out loud.

Veloċi is built by an agency, Adam's Media, so we know exactly what done-for-you costs. Here are the honest numbers, ours included, and why we built the low-cost way in anyway.

Done for you

Custom work costs real money, ours included

Our own done-for-you designs run US$1,500 to beyond US$5,000. Full agency work starts with a US$3,500 consultation before anyone quotes the build, and the builds themselves run from US$10,000 to US$300,000. That's what serious custom work costs, and one day some businesses are ready for it.

The reality

Budgets are smallest exactly when it matters most

When you're starting out, the budget is finite and usually modest, and it has to cover more than a website: the tools, the stock, the insurance, the first ads. A site that swallows all of it isn't a head start; it's a handbrake.

The industry

Priced the same whether the idea is a day old or you employ fifty

Most of the market charges the same fee wherever you are on the road, and hands over the same package either way. Nobody prices for the person who thought of it on Tuesday. We think that's exactly backwards.

So this exists

Time went away from the agency, into this

That gap is why this whole project exists. Adam stepped away from the agency and its custom builds to make a platform where starting doesn't take an agency budget. So you get an opportunity most people are never offered.

Built properly

Priced low is not built cheap

These are fast static sites: no plugin updates to babysit, no security-patch treadmill, nothing to break while you sleep. Not a five-minute marketplace special that looks like a website and never brings a customer.

The promise underneath all of it

When something lands,
we want to be the ones who believed in
you.

  • Eventually an idea sticks. When it does, you won't have to go looking for a bigger partner: the ladder is already here, from editing to custom design to the full agency build.
  • Most companies will happily back you once the idea is proven. We're here for the part before that, when belief is the scarce thing.
  • By then we won't be strangers. We'll know your business, your customers and your story, and a partner who already knows the whole story is a head start money can't buy.
  • That's the path this was built for: people come in small, build something real, and go up the ladder as it grows, priced for the level they're at.
  • And none of it is owed. Until something lands, your money stays where it belongs: in the business you're building.

Where this is going

One shop, from zero to the business you envision.

Running a small business today means renting from a dozen providers who don't talk to each other. Over the next couple of years we're building the rest of the platform, one piece at a time. Same shop, same idea: priced so trying it is easy.

Today

A website, done properly

A finished site for your trade, your domain, hosting, business mailboxes and editing that stays open: the foundation every idea needs first, paid once.

Next

Getting customers

Help making your ads and sharpening the words on your pages: the copy that turns a visitor into a phone call. The same care that goes into your site's first draft, pointed at your marketing.

Then

Learning the hats

Plain-spoken courses on the jobs nobody warns you about (marketing, hiring, pricing, the paperwork of running a business), so each new hat comes with instructions.

In time

The books, and the rest

Accounting and the other services a small business currently rents from everywhere else, brought into the same shop so one login runs the whole thing.

What this means

Direction, not promised dates.

  • We build one piece at a time and publish the roadmap as each piece lands.
  • Nothing above changes what you buy today. The website is complete on its own.
  • Every new piece follows the same pricing idea: easy to try, easy to step back from.

Your ideas steer it

Got an idea? Hit a problem? Tell us.

If something here slows you down, or you know what would help your business next, chances are it affects far more people than you, and that's exactly what we want to hear. One message from you improves the platform for everyone on it.

It goes straight onto the list we plan from. No newsletter, no follow-up unless you ask for one.

From Adam, personally

Everyone deserves the chance to try.

I'm extremely supportive of anyone having a go, at anything. I believe everyone should get a chance at life: to try the thing, start the venture, test the new idea. That's how people improve, and I think it's how humanity moves forward: one person at a time, trying to build something better than what they had.

Starting a business is one of the honest ways to try. So whether you're on your first idea or your fifth, I'm for you, and this platform is what that looks like in practice.

Partner programme

Know a business that needs a website? We pay you $97 when they buy.

Every business finds Veloċi somewhere: an ad, a search, a friend. We'd rather pay the friend. The fees are our advertising budget, paid to the person who brought the customer instead of to Meta, Google or Bing: $36 to $182 a package, plus hosting and mailbox fees every year they stay. The customer pays the same price either way, every partner must say so wherever their link appears, and we never pay for a review.
